What Could Shield Reunion Mean For Ambrose?

By now, you’ve hopefully either seen Monday Night RAW, or at the very least read up on it via one of our recaps. In case you haven’t, Roman Reigns made a very emotional and triumphant return to RAW. The Big Dog declared his Leukemia was once again in remission. With that major challenge in his rear view mirror, Reigns is back to work in WWE. It didn’t take him long to get physically involved either.

Former Shield running mate, and lame duck WWE Superstar Dean Ambrose, did battle with Drew McIntyre in a no disqualification match. It didn’t end up going too well for Ambrose, as Elias got involved to give McIntyre the win. Then, Bobby Lashley and Baron Corbin joined the fun, and it was four on one. Until it wasn’t.

Seth Rollins’ music hit the stage, carrying a steel chair. But he wasn’t alone, as Roman Reigns’ music hit, and just like that, the other two thirds of The Shield marched down to the ring to save their fallen former brother. Reigns and Rollins cleared the ring with Ambrose down in the corner. They never acknowledged Dean while in the ring. They walked up the ramp together, and before heading to the backstage area, they did glance back at him and the ring…and you could tell it was a loaded cliffhanger of a glance.

So, rumors are swirling that we will get a Shield reunion in some form soon. It looks like we might get it at Fastlane, with one suggestion having the trio joined by Braun Strowman, taking on the four who beat down Dean and have had issues with Strowman as well. It would make sense. Would a Shield reunion mean something for Ambrose? Or would it just be another item on Amrbose’s farewell tour?

On one hand, it could help. Rumblings not that long ago indicated that, while Dean had provided his notice to the company, WWE was still negotiating to change his mind. Might a Shield reunion, one that lasts a prolonged time (like their first) actually help sway Dean Ambrose to stay? While I would doubt that the breakup of The Shield contributed to Dean’s decision to leave, anything is possible. People have quit for crazier reasons.

Or, is it possible that a Shield reunion would actually turn Dean off on the whole idea of re-upping with WWE? After all, when Roman Reigns left the ring following his amazing announcement, only Seth Rollins came out to hug Reigns. Ambrose opted out. Now, this could be out of disdain for the former faction, sure. There are other possible explanations too, however. As someone with not much time left, perhaps Ambrose just didn’t want to take part. Or, it’s possible he avoided the feel good moment to keep the suspense of a Shield reunion.
