Vanessa Porto finally secured the Invicta FC title, earning a technical decision over Pearl Gonzalez at Invicta FC 34 recently.

After an eye poke from Gonzalez ended the bout in the fourth, the decision was rendered from the scorecards at that time. Porto had previously challenged for the interim belt in 2016 and the unified title in 2013, dropping decisions both times to Jennifer Maia and Barb Honchak.

“This has been my goal to hold this belt,” Porto said. “I have no words to explain how happy I am right now. I’m a bit emotional right now because it is something I have been chasing for so long. Unfortunately, I did not expect to win the fight like this, but I know I was winning all the rounds.”

Porto, a 34-year-old from Brazil, has now won three in a row and is 6-4 over her 10-fight Invicta FC career.

“I was going to keep up the same pressure til the misfortune in the fourth,” Porto said. “I know in my head I was winning the fight.
