Kate Gosselin Hits the Dating Scene in New Reality Show

They say there’s someone for everyone. I guess we’ll find out if that’s true as Kate Gosselin tries to find love on a new reality show on TLC.

The mom of eight appeared with her oldest two daughters, Mady and Cara, both 18, on the channel to discuss why she’s decided to do the show, saying dating on television was appealing because of “the safety it provides.”

The show has Kate essentially speed dating with men she’s never met before, barely even knowing their names.

“They were strictly blind dates, but I didn’t even know, really, their names, until minutes before,” Gosselin said at a press conference about the show. “A lot of the awkwardness, uncomfortable terrified reactions came from the fact that they were hit or miss. It’s a very difficult concept, and this is a very real show in that I am really looking for someone.”

Finding someone willing to take on not only Mady and Cara — who also watch the dates and judge the men with their mother — but also sign on for helping to raise the four of six younger children Kate has in her home is sure to be a tall order.

It was reported last week by Kate‘s ex-husband Jon that she has “zero” contact with their son, Collin, who just recently left a hospital for children with special needs. Sextuplet sister, Hannah, also lives full-time with Jon.

Jon refuses to let his kids be exploited

The younger sextuplets, who are now 14-year-olds, won’t be seen on the program. After much of their childhood being broadcast on television, Jon Gosselin, who separated from kate in 2009, put his foot down when it came to allowing Kate to sell their teen years to another show.

“I didn’t sign their work permits. That’s why they can’t film,” he said in an interview. “They came to me and I was like, ‘No, I’m not signing that.’”

Can she find love?

Jon also doesn’t hold much confidence in his ex finding lasting love on the new show.

“I don’t think anyone can,” he said. “I think you need to find it [organically].”

As for the twins, Mady and Cara say they’re happy for their mom and hope she finds love.

“We’ve been nudging her to date for years,” Mady told one outlet. “She deserves to be happy. Everyone deserves to be happy.”

Let’s see if anyone is willing to take on all of Kate’s baggage, and I’m not talking about her children.
