Don Lemon Goes After Gladys Knight for Singing the National Anthem

CNN host Don Lemon just went after legendary singer Gladys Knight as he seemingly tried to get her to apologize for daring to sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl on Sunday night. Thankfully, the singer refused to back down and instead took a stand for patriotism by defending her right to sing the national anthem for her country.

Knight brought the house down on Sunday night with a stirring rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” that was meant to bring us all together as a country.

Unfortunately, liberals were furious at Knight for performing the national anthem at the event. They had spent the days leading up to the Super Bowl calling on entertainers to either boycott the event or take a knee during the anthem in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick, but Knight refused to do either. Race-baiting liberals like Lemon now think that Knight has something to apologize for, but she is not having any of it.

Fox News reported that when Lemon asked Knight if she feared singing the anthem would hurt her career, she held nothing back with her response.

“For me, it’s just for me about respect,” Knight said. “I’m just hoping it will be about our country and how we treat each other and being the great country that we are.”

Knight Puts Colin Kaepernick To Shame

This was also in response to a statement made by Kaepernick through his lawyer, who claimed that anyone who agreed to perform at the Super Bowl was “crossing an intellectual picket line” and “caring more about [their] career” than doing what was right. Knight pointed out that while she has always fought for civil rights, she also believes that we should all still be proud to be Americans.

“You do have to stand up for what is right and what is right for others,” Knight said. “I just want them to know that we have a country that’s worth standing up for. Nothing good comes easy and I would hope that they will understand as I do that we have a better way to do this than to be all angry.”

It’s incredibly sad that now even singing the national anthem is considered “controversial” and “wrong” in the eyes of liberals. An American singer can’t even be proud of their own country without feeling like he or she is putting their career at risk.

Gladys Knight has nothing to be ashamed of for proudly performing her national anthem, yet liberals are treating her as a traitor for showing love for her own country.

Regardless of our political leanings, we should all be able to agree that we are lucky to live in a great nation like the United States. We have more freedoms than virtually anywhere else in the world. Liberals should be ashamed of themselves for trying to pride in being an American away from the rest of us.
