Kurt Angle Returns Inside A WWE Ring, Maria Kanellis Denies Report
– At Friday’s live event from San Antonio, Baron Corbin thought he would have an easy night as there was no opponent listed. Then, Kurt Angle’s music hit and an impromptu match started. In a rather quick match, Angle got the better of Corbin.
Fans have not seen much of Angle the past few months. He was sent on a forced vacation by Stephanie McMahon and Baron Corbin was then the figurehead of RAW. Later, Angle was destroyed by Drew McIntyre on RAW before tapping to his own finisher, the ankle lock.
Corbin of course lost his job after Braun Strowman pinned him at December’s TLC; with the help of several RAW superstars and the WWE Hall of Famer. The same thing would happen the following night on Monday’s RAW.
No word if or when Angle will return inside the ring again, but the crowd popped for his appearance and WrestleMania season is upon us. Here’s video of Angle at Friday’s live event.

– Earlier in the week, it was reported that several WWE superstars asked for their release and that included Mike and Maria Kanellis. Although, Maria is now denying that information while her husband has not commented. Below is Maria’s statement via Instagram.

I was not going to address this but I am getting phone calls and emails about it. I DID NOT ask for my release. Speculation and rumors are running rampant. Someone is playing all the wrestling news sites. It’s a game. I’ve been in professional wrestling for 15 years and what I do in front of the camera will only be a small part of the full story. I have relationships with fans, talent, producers, and their families. I have been in the hospital when people have been injured and backstage to hug someone that just had a great match. I don’t need to stir up shit. I don’t need to put others down. I am an imperfect human that has learned from past mistakes. Whoever is leaking rumors I pity you. And your desperate attempt for attention while disparaging my husband and I. I’m gonna take the weekend off of social media to hang out with my beautiful family and I suggest whoever it is does the same. Social media is not fact. It is fantasy, a nightmare, or a place for bullies. I want to use this for motivation to be positive everyday. I am still learning how to be a mom. I still fight postpartum depression. And I still try and become a better person everyday. I don’t need this made up extra stress. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and thank you for your support!!

At Money in the Bank 2017, both superstars appeared with a gimmick about the power of love. They never got much momentum before being pushed down the SmackDown roster. Only months after Maria’s return, she announced her pregnancy and returned at the Evolution pay per view in October 2018. During that time, Mike moved to SmackDown but again did very little. Recently, the married couple were moved to 205 Live; where they last competed in early December.
