Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood and her husband, hockey player Mike Fisher, welcomed their second child, a son, to the world on Monday.

The couple stuck to biblical names, naming their firstborn Isaiah. Now, they’re welcoming baby Jacob Bryan to the family.

Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher met following one of her concerts in 2008.

Welcome to the World Jacob

Underwood posted to her Instagram, sharing sweet photos of the family welcoming their newest member.

“Jacob Bryan Fisher entered the world in the wee hours of the morning on Monday” the post said. “…his mom, dad and big brother couldn’t be happier for God to trust them with taking care of this little miracle!”

“Our hearts are full, our eyes are tired and our lives are forever changed. Life is good…” the post concluded.

Life After Miscarriages

Baby Jacob’s birth follows three heartbreaking miscarriages for the couple in 2017 and 2018.

Between 10 and 20 percent of pregnancies end in miscarriage.

Underwood spoke about her older son Isaiah being one of the things that got her through each miscarriage.

“My son, Isaiah, is the sweetest thing. And he’s the best thing in the world, Underwood gushed. “And I’m like, ‘If we can never have any other kids, that’s okay because he’s amazing.’”

“And I have this amazing life,” she went on. “Like, really, what can I complain about? I can’t. I have an incredible husband, incredible friends, an incredible job, an incredible kid. Can I be mad? No.”

On Isaiah becoming a big brother for the first time, Underwood told late-night host Jimmy Fallon that she didn’t think he really understood what having a sibling would entail.

“He’ll be really sweet and talk to my belly and kiss my belly,” she explained. “He’s the sweetest little boy. But no kid can really know that their life is going to change … He’ll have to share Mommy.”

Thankfully, Isaiah and Jacob will have the next few months of having their mommy all to themselves before going on tour with her in May 2019.

Carrie and her husband have been through a lot this year. A miscarriage is a loss too many have to face. Through her faith and family, Carrie has been able to persevere and we couldn’t be happier that she’s welcoming a new child into the world.
