Brock Lesnar's UFC Status

– Whenever there is a major UFC card and Dana White is present, a consistent question is about the future of Brock Lesnar. Earlier in the year, Lesnar seemed to be primed for a UFC return after completing his suspension in January.

White said he heard that Lesnar recently signed several new deals with WWE, but those would not stop him from fighting inside the octagon. When pushed for a date to fight or opponent, White brushed off the reporter as he is busy working on other cards.

If, or when, Lesnar returns to the UFC, the easy choice for an opponent seems to be light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. With Cormier currently out with an injury and about a month until Lesnar’s suspension ends, there does not seem to be any rush to make that fight happen.

While fans haven’t seen much of Lesnar on WWE TV, he did work Crown Jewel by easily recapturing the vacant Universal Championship by defeating Braun Strowman. In his last appearance, Lesnar won a somewhat one-sided affair with Daniel Bryan at Survivor Series.

Here, is White’s exact response when the question of Lesnar was mentioned.

– With Roman Reigns out of the picture as he battles leukemia, WWE is out of a WrestleMania 35 main event. Originally, the idea was for The Rock to be a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble and get the win. This would have seen Reigns vs. The Rock headline WrestleMania.

Still, WWE has interest in The Rock returning to take on Brock Lesnar. This would be a rematch from SummerSlam 2002, when Lesnar defeated The Rock to win his first WWE Championship. At the same time, The Rock finished up being a full time wrestler.

Considering how rough Lesnar is inside the ring, it could prove to be difficult for The Rock to get approval from Hollywood to make the match happen. WWE is also thinking of letting the female superstars close the show, with Ronda Rousey being the leading candidate.
