We probably should have seen this coming.

Khabib Nurmagomedov was pretty quiet all week in the build to Saturday’s UFC 229 main event with Conor McGregor.

While McGregor taunted and poke the unbeaten lightweight champion, Nurmagomedov remained quiet.

Once the Octagon door closed, it was Nurmagomedov in control, as he picked up a fourth round submission win. However, the event will be remembered for what happened after, as “The Eagle” jumped over the cage and went after Dillon Danis, a teammate of McGregor’s.

While McGregor remained inside the cage, a member of Nurmagomedov’s team jumped in and landed a shot that set off a brief melee. Eventually, the Octagon was cleared out with UFC president Dana White refusing to announce Nurmagomedov as champion.
