SmackDown In A Nutshell: Super Show-Send Off

Hello again everyone! The final SmackDown prior to Super Show-Down is here, which of course means the go-home show.  The roster gives things a Super Show-send off just before the boys and girls of the blue brand grab their plane tickets and go flying. We are expecting to see more heat between AJ Styles and Samoa Joe. Miz and Bryan continue their feud ahead of Melbourne as well. Plenty to get to and only a couple hours to go, so lets crack open this Nutshell!

Best Match of the night:

No exceptional matches tonight, but I suppose for my money I will say Shelton Benjamin and Daniel Bryan. With luck, matches like these happen more and more for Benjamin.

SmackDown In A Nutshell: Super Show-Send Off

Worst match of the night:

Hmm…I shall take Asuka’s match here. Did not amount to much, did not mean much. The upside, if there is one, is that it was short.

Crowd Chants of the Night:

Truth TV

Rusev Day

Let’s go Asuka

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Becky

Star of the Night

This was a tough one. I am sitting here asking myself…what single performance was best. And I am drawing a blank. No one tonight really did enough to be head and shoulders above the rest of the roster.

Spot of the Night:

Honestly, I did not think that there was one.

Jobber of the Night:

The Iiconics seem to always deserve this spot, or at least a mention. But while I will (and just did) mention them, tonight I give the nod to Tye Dillinger. Dillinger was the latest victim of Randy Orton. On the bright side, Dillinger is at least getting more TV time….I guess?

Upset of the Night:

Call it a mild surprise having R-Truth and Carmella defeat Andrade Cien Almas and Zelina Vega.

Holy Sh** Moment of the Night:

Here’s one right out of the gate. It’s typical of WWE, so I should not be shocked…but Paige declaring what Samoa Joe did last week to be the most dastardly deed ever in WWE. Was it bad? Sure. Are they/she trying to sell it? Absolutely, and I don’t blame them for doing so. But the hyperbole or revisionist history always cracks me up.

Then again, I am keenly aware that there are likely many younger and less knowledgeable fans out there, and for some, what Joe did last week could easily be the worst they’ve been a witness to. But hey, there’s that pesky ol’ WWE Network, so I am sure there’s footage of other acts preserved for them to peruse.

From the wrestling side, this goes to Orton. Another week, another gruesome looking attack. This week, Tye Dillinger’s finger was bent in ways I don’t think nature ever intended.

Also, the reveal of Aiden English’s “One Night in Milwaukee” video. Maybe a bit underwhelming, but still, they went there.

Botch of the night:

Nothing worth getting into.

Commentary of the night:

Don’t worry, still going to do Tweets, but Graves had a couple zingers.

-Telling Byron he can stay in his race car bed to watch Super Show-Down

-Telling Byron if he were in a group, they could be called the Moronics.

Tweets of the Night

LOL Moment of the night:

Winner here would be New Day as chefs.

Noteworthy Moment:

Nothing crazy really.

Overall lowlights:

There was a lot crammed into two hours. It’s a go home show, so that is to be expected. I suppose my only beef is some of it just felt chaotic.

Having the WWE Champion at home, while understandable, was easily a lowlight.

Overall highlights:

I like Dillinger getting TV time, even at the expense of his finger.

I like R-Truth getting more exposure again. He and Carmella make an unlikely pairing, but it seems to work.

Becky and Charlotte was good. Not as good as it’s been perhaps, but good.

After the final bell:

Well, I think RAW had the better go-home show this time around. Much of that has to do with who showed up last night, so SmackDown absolutely had a tough show to follow. Not bad but certainly not a big deal. Thanks!
