Just five months after she married Prince Harry, it has been announced that Meghan Markle is expecting her first child!

ABC News reported that Kensington Palace announced Meghan’s pregnancy early Monday morning in a Twitter post that had royal fans everywhere very excited. The palace explained that Meghan is currently 12 weeks pregnant, which indicates that her due date is sometime in April.

“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,” Kensington Palace tweeted.

Speculation had been mounting over the past few days that Meghan may be pregnant, as she was photographed multiple times appearing to hide a baby bump. She is currently on a tour of Australia and New Zealand with her husband, and she was photographed over the weekend holding two purple folders in front of her stomach.

Palace officials said that Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland is very excited to welcome her first grandchild, but they gave no comment about the Duchess’ father, Thomas Markle, from whom she is estranged. The officials said that Harry and Meghan revealed her pregnancy to the royal family on Friday at the wedding of his cousin, Princess Eugenie.

It had previously been reported that Harry and Meghan were anxious to start a family as soon as possible after their marriage, and they certainly didn’t waste any time in doing so! We wish Meghan the best of luck in her pregnancy, and we can’t wait to meet the newest little royal in the spring!
