Tim Conway Turns on the Tears to Sell Vicki Lawrence a Vacuum Cleaner

The skits on “The Carol Burnett Show” had a terrific way of making us laugh at everyday situations. Family members of all ages could gather around the television and enjoy the show together as it was appropriate and hilarious for people of all ages.

Want To Buy A Vacuum Cleaner?

Back in the 1970s, it was still very common for vacuum salesmen to come to your home. The salesperson would demonstrate how the now-common device worked by cleaning your home.

In a 1977 episode of this sketch comedy show, Tim Conway was a vacuum salesman visiting Vicki Lawrence and in typical Conway fashion, things went a little off the rails!

Tim Conway Throws Temper Tantrum

Tim Conway was never afraid to act silly on “The Carol Burnett Show.” He thrived on it! He loved going off script in an attempt to make his castmates laugh. But, Vicki wasn’t having any of that in this skit!

Shortly after starting his presentation, Tim suddenly decided that Vicki wasn’t going to be buying the vacuum so he was just going to leave. That’s when Vicki took over and began demonstrating it herself.

Tim acted like a bit of a toddler having a temper tantrum and demanding a free gift as Vicki did his job!

Customer Service Like You’ve Never Seen

Tim’s approach to customer service quickly went downhill from there. His rather unorthodox approach to sales worked on Vicki, but he made it clear he wasn’t coming back if there were a problem!

If you are a fan of “The Carol Burnett Show,” you will love watching the video below!

Even though we buy vacuum cleaners at the store now, this video is still very funny! Much like using a rotary phone, millennials won’t be able to relate to it!

Tim Conway was often at his best when he was in a work-related skit. One of the craziest episodes was when he was Harvey Korman’s dentist. Tim said that Harvey laughed so much during that skit that Korman actually wet his pants! Hilarious!
