Police have located the woman who was seen wearing broken handcuffs ringing doorbells at 3 am in a Conroe, Texas subdivision. Turns out, the details behind this event are rather sinister.
Jennie Drude’s Ring doorbell captured the alarming visit from the mystery woman which quickly went viral. However, by the time she got to the front door, the woman had already moved on to another house. You can see that video below.
Since video of the mystery woman surfaced, people near the Conroe neighborhood were rightfully concerned and distressed. Police originally warned locals to proceed with caution if she returned. They were not sure if she was in desperate need of help or part of some ill-intentioned plot to break into houses.
The woman did appear to be in distress and now the police know why.
On August 29th, Montgomery County Sheriffs received a request for a welfare check for a home in the same subdivision. A man there had made suicidal comments and they were following up. When they arrived, they found a dead 49-year-old white male with a gunshot wound to the head.
The man’s girlfriend was not at the home when police arrived. She was later identified as the 32-year-old woman ringing doorbells from the video. However, the saddest part is, the woman is a victim of family violence. For that reason, they are not disclosing her identity.
Fortunately, she is now safe at home with her family. The woman must have broken free, trying to seek the help of people in the neighborhood. We can only imagine that something very troubling was going on behind closed doors.
Though she was recorded looking down the street in fear, it’s imperative that homeowners be cautious about schemes from people attempting to break into their homes. However, in this case, the woman really may have been running for her life.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office provided this update in a Facebook Live video. The details are frightening, but thankfully the woman is now known to be safe.
