Retiring Police Officer Gets HUGE Surprise During Final Radio Call

A retiring Massachusetts police officer got an emotional surprise during the final code five of his career. Officer Duane Ledoux was signing off for the last time when he was greeted by the voice of his son Nate, who had flown across the country for the momentous occasion.

Ledoux made his final call with the Southbridge Police Department on July 5th. After he spoke, Police Chief Shane Woodson replied thanking him for his many years of service and wishing him happiness in his retirement. Then Ledoux’s son took over, bringing the retiring officer to tears.

“It is my sincere pleasure to announce that … after 32-and-a-half years of service, my father, Southbridge Police Officer Duane Ledoux, is retiring and has given his final code five,” Nate Ledoux said.

“It is my honor to acknowledge this code five, to set free a man who has sacrificed so much of his time for all of us, so that he may spend the rest of his life discovering new craft beer, exploring this beautiful country and, most important of all, chasing glory. Officer Ledoux, badge number 1041, dad, you are officially code five,” he finished.

This brave police officer who served his community for decades was completely caught off guard that his son made the effort to come home and surprise him. The very thoughtful gesture was very unexpected and quite appreciated as you can tell by Officer Ledoux’s reaction in the video below.

The Police Department also shared a video of the final call from their end. In it, you can see Nate Ledoux offering up congratulations to his father in the last moments of his career.
