WWII Veteran Can’t Believe The Crowd’s Reaction To Him Singing ‘God Bless America’

Baseball fans got a real treat when a World War II veteran sang “God Bless America” before a Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs game. Raymond T. Mohr served in the Army’s 29th Division during the Battle of Normandy. Even at age 99, he is still a proud American veteran!

He was a tough soldier and he’s a great singer, too! Fans were thrilled to hear the veteran who landed on Omaha Beach the day after D-Day sing this beloved song. Mohr got a standing ovation from the crowd!

Mohr’s grandson Jeffrey Lindemuth commented on the video, “Thank you for all the appreciation for our grandfather. Anyone who has the pleasure of knowing Ray understands why this song is so perfect: Every day of his 99 years has been dedicated to serving God and country. Despite experiencing America at its best and worst, his heart has only ever known kindness and gratitude. I will share your kind words with him.

Manny Rodrigues was touched by Mohr’s performance. He applauded the WWII veteran‘s service to our country and his patriotic singing as well. “This Veteran is the exact reason why we stand and show respect for our flag. 99 years old and still showing his love for our country. The country that he fought on the beaches of Normandy for to help stop the Nazi’s in their quest to take over the world. He survived when so many of his brothers did not as gates to their landing boats were opened and they were mowed down by machine guns. He still stands strong and delivers a memorable “God Bless America.” Thank you for your service sir!” he wrote on the Iron Pigs’ Facebook video.

This is a much different experience than what you see at NFL games. No players knelt. There were no protests. It was just America at its finest!
