Princess Diana Prince Harry video

It’s been over 20 years since Princess Diana passed away, but she is still dearly missed by people all over the globe.

Shareably reported that for the 20th anniversary of Diana’s death last year, ITV made a documentary called  Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy. In this documentary, Prince William and Prince Harry opened up for the first time about their mother’s death and how it affected them.

“She was our mum. She is still our mum. And of course, as a son I would say this, she was the best mum in the world,” Harry revealed. “She smothered us with love, that’s for sure.”

The brothers also talked about the regrets they have about their final conversation with their mother. While Diana was in Paris with her boyfriend Dodi Fayed, William and Harry were at Balmoral, the Queen’s private Scottish estate, with their father and cousins. Diana called them on the day she died, but they were having so much fun playing with their cousins that they rushed through the conversation.

“Harry and I were in a desperate rush to say ‘goodbye’, ‘see you later’ and ‘we’re going to go off’,” William said. “If I’d known what would happen I wouldn’t have been so blasé about it. But that phone call sticks in my mind quite heavily.”

To this day, William and Harry are still angered by the actions of the people at the scene of their mother’s car crash.

“I think one of the hardest things to come to terms with,” Harry said. “is the fact that the people that chased her into the tunnel were the same people that were taking photographs of her while she was dying in the backseat of the car.”

Though they dearly miss their mother, William and Harry have channeled their grief into furthering her legacy.

“Now all I want to do is try and fill the holes that my mother has left, and that’s what it’s about for us— is trying to make a difference and in making a difference, making her proud,” Harry said. “She was the Princess of Wales, and she stood for so many things, but deep down inside for us, she was a mother. And we will miss our mother, and I wonder every single day what it would be like having her around.”
