A lot can be said about how a society cares for its veterans, particularly its wounded warriors. Prince Harry is a great example of a leader who does right by those who have put their lives on the line for freedom. His Invictus Games are a great example of this and Kensington Palace just made a major announcement about upcoming games that will have veterans cheering.

Prince Harry has helped modernize the monarchy. Princess Diana raised her sons to appreciate life outside the Royal bubble. This is evident in how Harry lives his life and what he chooses to promote. His tremendous concern and compassion for others is inspiring, particularly his involvement with his fellow veterans. At last year’s games, he went out of his way to spend time with a 102-year-old WWII veteran as soon as he noticed the man.

In the tweeted video below from Kensington Palace, Prince Harry explains the purpose of the games. It is not to pity these wounded men and women. Rather, it is to celebrate them and their athletic accomplishments. Everyone would want these warriors on their team. They can seemingly accomplish anything and overcome every obstacle!

The Invictus Games began in 2014. Each year, they are at a different location. They have previously been played in London, Orlando, and Ontario. This year they will be in Syndey, Australia. Kensington Palace announced the games will continue in 2020, where they will be played at The Hague. 19 countries are expected to participate in the 2020 Invictus Games.

These games are at the core of Prince Harry’s character. A veteran himself, the Duke of Sussex spent a decade in the military and even served two tours in Afghanistan. It’s also where he allegedly met his wife, Meghan Markle. The couple also made their first public appearance together at Invictus Games in Canada.

Prince Harry’s personal life is going through tremendous changes after his wedding, but his devotion to veterans remains unchanged. Princess Diana would be proud of Harry!
