Pawn Stars

The Harrison family is mourning one of its own. “Pawn Stars” patriarch Richard Harrison passed away at 77 after battling Parkinson’s Disease.

Rick announced the Old Man’s passing to fans saying that his father passed away surrounded by family. He described The Old Man as his hero. They were grateful to be able to share his knowledge and sense of humor with people around the world.

The Harrison family is receiving an outpouring of love from people who understand what a huge loss this is to their family. We saw the tight bond everyone had with the “Pawn Stars” patriarch. Even though he was sick for years, this is still a challenging time. Below is a photo of a young Richard when he was in the Navy.

The Old Man moved to Las Vegas in the early 80s and opened the pawn shop with his son Rick in 1988. When the History Channel began airing the series in 2009, it was an instant success thanks in large part to The Old Man’s demeanor.

Richard hasn’t appeared on the show much the last couple of seasons, but he is well remembered by “Pawn Stars” fans. After the 500th episode aired, Rick discussed how the shop’s traffic changed dramatically thanks to the show.

“It’s interesting to look back at how Gold & Silver has evolved over the course of these 500 episodes,” Rick said. “When ‘Pawn Stars‘ started, the shop was averaging about 70 people a day, and now, we average thousands. We’ve also gone from 10 employees to over 50. It’s been an incredible ride.”

Grandson Corey Harrison also shared his thoughts on Instagram as he says goodbye to his beloved Grandpa.

Gold & Silver Pawn definitely was a family business. The Old Man built it around that concept. The Harrison family is requesting privacy during this difficult time, but they certainly could use our prayers.
