NASCAR dad saves son

A father’s love knows no bounds. That was proven on a NASCAR track when a father ran onto the track to pull his son out of his burning car.

Dean Jones wasn’t concerned about his own safety. He also didn’t care about NASCAR‘s rules forbidding people from entering the track. His son’s car was an inferno and he had to get him to safety. Mike Jones very likely owes his life to his dad’s bravery and love.

Only wearing shorts and a t-shirt, Dean rushed onto the track without a moment’s thought. He was not concerned with being burned as he pulled Mike out of the car window right before the rest of the car went up in flames. Remarkably, Jones escaped unharmed with no time to spare, thanks to his dad.

This is a clear violation of NASCAR rules. Dean Jones might be facing punishment for saving himself. A car fire is one of the most dangerous things that can happen during a race because of the explosive nature of gasoline. Rules are made for a reason, but parents often know what is best and Dean did what he had to do. He had to get his son out of that car immediately and he did just that!

It’s hard to be upset with this father for breaking the rules after watching the video below. The fire started about five seconds after the crash. There wasn’t time to waste.

In my opinion, Dean Jones is a hero. To hell with the rules. Anthony Alaniz from Motor1 agrees with the need for Jones to save his son during this fire.

“Not only does it put the driver in peril, but it hinders the rescue crew from getting close to the vehicle to save the driver,” Anthony Alaniz wrote. “Often, fires spread quickly before fire crews can even arrive, leaving a few brief moments for rescuers to act. So, when some late model racing action left Mike Jones wrecked in the middle of the track with fire spewing from the engine bay, his father, Dean, did what any parent would – he hopped the pit wall, ran to his son’s burning car, and helped pull him from the wreckage.”

“Quick thinking by Dean and the swift action of the fire and safety crews helped make this accident one with a happy ending,” Alaniz continued.
