Kathy Griffin may have only just shot into infamy last year, but her jokes have long been in poor taste – and they often cross the line of decency. Here are four times Griffin’s jokes went way too far.

4. Mocking Bristol Palin’s weight

Bullies always go for the lowest-hanging fruit, and Griffin stooped lower than low when she mocked Bristol Palin’s weight during VH1’s “Divas Salute to the Troops” in 2010.

“She’s the only contestant in the history of [Dancing With the Stars] to actually gain weight,” Griffin said.

Unimpressed with the distasteful attack, the troops in the audience started booing – but Griffin kept at it. “No, come on, come on. She gained like 30 pounds a week, I swear to God, it was fantastic,” she continued. “She’s like the white Precious.”

Even more disgusting, VH1’s producers considered editing out the segment – but kept it in due to the attention Griffin’s comments generated. However, Bristol took the incident in stride. “I hope people didn’t have to pay money to hear [Griffin’s] negativity and criticisms,” she told Fox News at the time.

3. Mocking Christian celebrities

Hollywood is not a friendly place for Christians, a fact that Griffin proved unequivocally at the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2007. While accepting an Emmy for her show, “My Life on the D-List,” Griffin mocked celebrities who thank God during their acceptance speeches:

“A lot of people come up here and they thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus. He didn’t help me a bit. If it was up to him, Cesar Millan would be up here with that damned dog.”

If that’s not bad enough, she concluded her speech by proclaiming, “So, all I can say is, suck it, Jesus! This award is my God now!”

2. Mocking a young woman’s mental health

On a 2012 episode of her now-canceled late night talk show, Griffin joked with Jimmy Kimmel that she’s who his producers call “if Demi Lovato is cutting.” At the time, Lovato was just 20 years old and had been very outspoken about her struggles with self-mutilation, addiction, and mental health – all very serious issues that could end in tragedy. But Griffin found Lovato’s internal battles to be suitable joke material.

1. Decapitated Trump

Griffin ignited a firestorm in May 2017 when she participated in a gruesome photoshoot in which she posed with a mask that was made to look like President Donald Trump’s bloody, decapitated head. The photo was so shocking that even Griffin’s longtime friend, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, stated that she’d gone too far. Griffin issued an apology – but she’s since backtracked more than once, stating in January that she didn’t do anything wrong.

Clearly, Griffin – like the rest of Hollywood – is completely delusional.
