father six kids golden buzzer

It takes raw talent to earn a golden buzzer from Simon Cowell. The “America’s Got Talent” judge is notorious for being critical of performers so when he pushes that buzzer, it’s always for someone special. This season, a father of six children earned that prize.

Michael Ketterer‘s wife and daughter almost died during childbirth. The Christian couple wanted a bigger family but feared having more children because of the health risk. Then, their daughter Sophia began to have dreams of three brothers who needed a home.

“It took my daughter three years to convince us to adopt. After we went through the process of getting certified to adopt, our very first call that we got (was) for three little boys. I promise I’m not making this up,” Ketterer said.

These three boys had a rough started in life. One even ate gravel because he was so hungry. Later, the Ketterers adopted two more boys, one with cerebral palsy. This is a man who clearly understands what it means to do the right thing. As a pediatric mental health nurse, Ketterer understands the importance of a stable childhood.

The judges didn’t know what to expect as Michael dedicated his performance to his children. Was this simply a feel-good story or was there something more to it? But when he began singing, everyone was stunned. This man is the real thing. A good person AND a terrific performer.

Ketterer has a Christian music background. While living in Knoxville, he was the member of a Christian band. In addition to being a nurse and a father, he also is a worship leader.

He took his talent to the big stage of AGT to sing “To Love Somebody” by the Bee Gees. It paid off as Simon Cowell was blown away. You’ll be cheering as this Christian man who lives his faith earns his way to the live show!
