‘He Is A Miracle’: Brain-Dead Alabama Teen Comes Back To Life, Believes He Was In Heaven

Trenton McKinley is a walking and talking miracle. Shortly after his parents signed releases to donate his organs, the 13-year-old Mobile, Alabama boy, who was declared brain-dead, started showing cognition.

The teen had a traumatic brain injury while riding in a trailer behind a dune buggy for kids. His friend suddenly hit the brakes. Trenton threw his friend’s 4-year-old niece out of the trailer as it began to flip, but he got trapped in the process. Trenton had 7 skull fractures and his prognosis was poor. He was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery.

“I hit the concrete and the trailer landed on top of my head. After that, I don’t remember anything,” the 13-year-old said.

“All I saw was a stretcher with his feet hanging out. He was dead a total of 15 minutes,” his mother Jennifer Reindl said. “When he came back, they said he would never be normal again. They told me the oxidation problems would be so bad to his brain, that he would be a vegetable if he even made it.”

He was declared brain dead. His parents made the heartbreaking decision to donate his organs. “Five kids needed organs that matched him,” Reindl said. “It was unfair to keep bringing him back because it was just damaging his organs even more.”

Then a miracle happened. The day before doctors were going to pull the plug, Trenton began showing signs of life. Doctors informed his family that he was likely to be a vegetable or have limited abilities, but within a short time, the teen was back to walking and even tossing around a basketball. Trenton believes he was in heaven while he was incapacitated.

“I was in an open field walking straight,” said Trenton. “There’s no other explanation but God. There’s no other way. Even doctors said it.”

He still suffers from seizures, but his recovery so far has been a miracle. Remarkably, he even has a sense of humor about it all, as you can see in the video below.

This story is proof that miracles do happen. Trenton McKinley still has a long road to recovery, but the progress has been remarkable.
