amy schumer meghan markle wedding

The world has been eagerly anticipating the royal wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for months, but there seems to be at least one person who isn’t looking forward to it: Amy Schumer.

Schumer, who isn’t known for her tact, recently told the Fitzy & Wippa radio show in Sydney, Australia that she feels sorry for Meghan and thinks she’s doomed to have the “worst wedding.”

“This poor girl. Your wedding, everyone says it’s your day, right?” Amy, 36, said.

“She’s like ‘No it’s not.’ You have to meet all these foreign dignitaries you’ve never met before.”

Amy continued: “There’s so much pressure. It’s like, can you imagine having the worst wedding? That would suck.”

What a horrible thing for a person to say. Yes, it’s true that Meghan and Harry’s wedding – and indeed, their entire relationship – has been viewed under a microscope. And it’s true that Meghan is essentially diving head first into a completely new world and culture and will likely be very, very busy on her wedding day. But to suggest that Meghan is going to have a terrible time on what is meant to be the happiest day of her life is just mean.

Further, it’s not as if Meghan doesn’t already have enough to contend with without Schumer throwing in her two cents, too. Meghan’s own family seems to be doing everything they can to make her wedding about themselves. Her jealous half-sister, Samantha, makes new horrible claims about Meghan every week, and the media had a field day with Meghan’s father’s flip-flopping on whether he would attend the wedding. And if all that isn’t enough, there are plenty of ugly people out there who don’t believe Meghan is “fit” to marry into the royal family at all.

If Schumer didn’t have anything nice to say, she shouldn’t have said anything at all. As for the rest of us, we can’t wait for the royal wedding and wish Meghan and Harry all the happiness in the world.
