Christian Singer Shocks ‘The Voice’ With ‘How Great Thou Art’

Hollywood doesn’t typically embrace Christianity, but that didn’t stop a contestant on “The Voice” from powerfully belting out a well know Christian song. Team Blake’s Kyla Jade let her love for Jesus shine through with a performance of “How Great Thou Art” that brought the crowd to its feet.

Her faith in God was completely evident in how she soulfully belted out this favorite. Tears streamed down her face as she performed the Christian hymn.

Blake Shelton was in awe of Kyla’s performance. “I wanna say something that’s pretty simple, really,” The Voice coach said before it was announced that Kyla would advance. “I mean, I thought I had a good team, honestly. But I didn’t realize that you were all that freaking good, man.”

Kyla brought down the house while praising God. Her performance was so strong that it helped catapult her into the Top 12. Her Christian message was accepted and loved by the audience and coaches!

After watching the video below, you will likely want Lyla to win it all this season!

Kyla was emotional as it was announced that she would be continuing on the show. She was truly shocked that she would be advancing. Shelton showed his support for the Christian singer by giving her a big bear hug.

Live blogger John Benutty had only words of praise for Kyla’s Gospel performance. “Stunning. I really have no words! I’m not sure how many votes a pure gospel song like this can bring in, but if you judges by vocal talent alone then Kyla is at the top of your list,” he said. “She also got pretty emotional which is really great to see from any artist on any track.”
