Carrie Underwood ACM 2018

Carrie Underwood has stayed out of the spotlight since her accident last November. She suffered serious facial injuries and shied away from cameras. On Sunday, she finally stepped back on the stage at the Academy of Country Music Awards.

The singer fell down stairs at her Nashville home in the fall. In addition to breaking her wrist, doctors had to put 40-50 stitches in her face. Underwood was quite concerned about fans seeing facial scars. She even warned that she “was not quite looking the same,” but nobody was able to see any difference or any scars on her face.

Underwood sang her new song “Cry Pretty” during the awards show. The audience was so thrilled to watch her comeback that she got a 29-second standing ovation.

You can watch her ACM performance in the video below.

It was a big night for Carrie Underwood. In addition to making her first debut after the accident, she and Keith Urban also won Vocal Event of The Year for their duet, “The Fighter.” As you can see in the video below, Underwood was rather emotional while accepting the award.

Urban was seen comforting Underwood as they left the stage after accepting the award. Carrie was carrying a heavy load of emotions from being on stage the first time since her fall. She had the relief of finishing her song and then the thrill of her big win!

It was nearly impossible to see any scars on Underwood’s face. Many people on Twitter commented they couldn’t see any changes at all during her performance no matter how closely they looked.

It looks like the same beautiful face she has always had. Sometimes, we are our own biggest critics. Carrie Underwood looked flawless at the ACMs!
