The Duggar family is celebrating another engagement. Jim Bob and Michelle’s 8th child, Josiah, is getting married to Lauren Swanson.
21-year-old Josiah proposed to 18-year-old Lauren in a special place. The “Counting On” star asked her to marry him at the same place her parents got engaged. In an Instagram post, Josiah said the timing is perfect and they feel the Lord brought them together.
“She’s the one,” Josiah Duggar said. “I just want to say thank you to all our fans and all your well wishes. You guys do mean a lot to us.”
The Duggar family certainly approves of this engagement. “We have known Lauren and her family for a very long time and have seen how she has grown in her knowledge and understanding of the Lord,” a statement on the Duggar family website reads. “She is a wonderful, caring, compassionate young lady, full of zeal for Christ. We are very thankful for her.”

Josiah and Lauren’s engagement comes after a brief courtship. They have been friends for years. In fact, Lauren was on an episode of “19 Kids And Counting” back in 2010. She has seven younger siblings, so she is already accustomed to life in a larger family.
The couple announced their courtship at the end of January. After a few short weeks, they have escalated that to engagement and are now making wedding plans. In their courtship video, which can be viewed below, they explain that they have known each other for quite a long time.
Josiah had a previous courtship with Marjorie Jackson in 2015. The courtship ended after four months because they didn’t feel that God was leading them to marriage at that time. The Duggars certainly have their hearts open to God to direct their lives!
