Frankie's career deserved for that to be against me tonight.
Respect Frankie.
Love and respect always!
A true fighters fighter ❤— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) March 4, 2018
UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor and Frankie Edgar might never sit down for a friendly conversation, but “Notorious” wants “The Answer” to know that he respects him.
Despite the two going back-and-forth through social media and managers recently, McGregor paid Edgar his respects following a knockout loss by the former UFC champion at UFC 222 Saturday night.
“Frankie’s career deserved for that to be against me,” McGregor wrote. “Respect Frankie. Love and respect always! A true fighters fighter.”
Edgar suffered the first knockout loss of his career at the hands of Brian Ortega, knocking him from the ranks of top contender to the 145-pound title.
