“The lift” is perhaps the most memorable scene from “Dirty Dancing.” It’s a very detailed move that is incredibly hard for even professional dancers to do.
But, when Bindi Irwin was a contestant on “Dancing With The Stars,” she and Derek Hough recreated it perfectly. The Crocodile Hunter’s daughter put on her dancing shoes and channeled her inner Baby to accomplish this move and the accompanying dance. It took quite a lot of practice.
Bindi was taken aback when she learned that Derek was scared to do the lift. He is used to being a speed dancer and wasn’t skilled with lifting anyone as this dance requires. They needed some help, so Jennifer Grey, who was Baby in “Dirty Dancing” showed up to give them some pointers on living up to expectations on this epic dance that movie fans still love.
The end result was a flawless dance as you can see in the video below.
It takes a lot of trust to accomplish that. They executed the dance beautifully! Steve Irwin would be incredibly proud of his daughter!

This power dancing pair took home the Mirrorball Trophy after beating Nick Carter & Sharna Burgess and Alek Skarlatos &Lindsay Arnold in the finals.
Bindi was only 17 years old when she won this incredibly tough competition. She stepped way out of her comfort zone and put on her dancing shoes with a lot of success. Americans fell in love with her energetic and positive personality that she certainly inherited from her dad.
After winning, Bindi said, “Thank you so much for everything. I can’t believe that I’m here. Just, thank you for changing my life.”
