marine surprises sister wedding day

These days, a lot of people tend to get caught up in the details of weddings: booking the biggest, most over-the-top venue; serving the finest, most decadent food; and, of course, finding the perfect dress. But while details are important, what matters most is being surrounded by the people you love – a fact that many brides can easily take for granted. However, for brides with family members who are active duty military, the chances of not having someone important to them present on their big day is a heartbreaking reality with which they must contend.

Bride Sarah experienced that reality firsthand when, the night before her wedding, she received a letter from her brother Daniel, a deployed Marine, explaining that he couldn’t make the wedding. Sarah cried in her mother’s lap wishing that her brother and best friend could be there.

But, little did Sarah know, Daniel was given a one-day leave at the last minute to attend her wedding. Daniel didn’t bother to shower or even change his clothes before surprising his sister – and her reaction is sure to make you cry. Watch below.

As Sarah says in the video, she had a feeling something was up because people kept “acting funny” and “looking around the corner” as if in anticipation of something. Kudos to her family for being able to keep such a big surprise under wraps until the perfect moment!

Brides feel a tremendous amount of pressure these days to plan the perfect wedding, but again – what matters most is the people with whom you celebrate. If everyone you love most is able to attend your wedding, don’t take that for granted; some people aren’t so lucky. Thankfully for Sarah, her brother was given a one-day pass to help her celebrate the biggest day of her life.

Help spread the joy and share this with your friends and family on Facebook!
