Pawn Stars Willy Wonka

Rick Harrison of “Pawn Stars typically drives a hard bargain when someone wants him to buy their prized possessions, but he melted like chocolate when confronted with the Holy Grail from his childhood.

A collector had several props from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and Rick could not resist. He has very fond memories of watching the 1971 movie at a young age. It was every child’s fantasy to get a Golden Ticket, and Rick was suddenly holding one.

The collector had a golden egg, a Golden Ticket, Willy Wonka’s hat, and Wonka bars. But the centerpiece of this collection was an Everlasting Gobstopper. All of these props were used in the movie and came from the actress who played Veruca Salt.

Rick isn’t even shown investigating the authenticity of any of these items. Remarkably, he also doesn’t even flinch when the collector offers to sell him the Everlasting Gobstopper for $100,000. It’s as if this is Rick’s evil twin because it’s completely out of character for the star of “Pawn Stars.” Perhaps he is just in a “world of pure imagination.”

Watch the video below to see Rick wearing Gene Wilder’s hat from the movie!

The scene when Charlie returns the Everlasting Gobstopper is the most important part of the movie. Charlie’s good deed, even when he is being slighted, made him the winner of the contest. He won Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. That movie clip is below.

This is why Rick valued the Everlasting Gobstopper so much. He believes it will bring people into the store. With a $105,000 price tag, it will take a long time to get a return on his investment, requiring hundreds, or even thousands, of people to come to the store to look at the Gobstopper and end up buying something.

It was interesting to see Rick Harrison step out of his character, and not even haggle over the price of this item. He clearly was mesmerized!
