CONFIRMED: Police Declare Person Of Interest In Reopened Case Of Natalie Wood’s Death

Natalie Wood’s mysterious drowning death in 1981 remains unsolved. The Hollywood starlet’s death dominated headlines around the country. Many of the details of her death were kept secret, creating more interest in the case of the beloved actress’ demise.

After a 30 year hiatus, the case was reopened in 2011 after the captain of the boat that Wood, her husband Robert Wagner, and Christoper Walken were aboard the night of her death, admitted that he lied about the circumstances from that night. Captain Dennis Davern alluded to Wagner being responsible for Wood’s death. The case had been labeled as an accidental drowning. Now, it is considered to be a “drowning and other undetermined factors.”

After a decades-long quest for justice, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s investigators say her widower, Robert Wagner, is a person of interest in Natalie Wood’s death.

“As we’ve investigated the case over the last six years, I think he’s more of a person of interest now,” Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lieutenant John Corina said in a recent interview. “I mean, we know now that he was the last person to be with Natalie before she disappeared.”

Robert Wagner has refused to speak with officials since the case was reopened in 2011.

Wagner admitted in his book Pieces of My Heart to having an argument with his wife the night of her death in the waters of Catalina Island, California. Her body was found with bruises and an abrasion on her left cheek, further raising suspicion. She was located the next morning a mile from the boat. An abandoned inflatable dinghy was found near the actress.

Natalie Wood’s and Robert Wagner had a bit of fire and ice relationship. The pair had married a second time years after their initial marriage ended in divorce.

Woods’ career in Hollywood began at a young age. She will forever be remembered as Maureen O’Hara’s daughter in Miracle on 34th Street and from Rebel Without A Cause.
