Figure skating is a beautiful combination of artistry and athletic prowess. It takes years of practice before any choreography is even considered. The challenge becomes even greater in paired skating because you have to completely trust your partner, and work together as a team.
Not only do you have to worry about being dropped by your partner, but skates are often near each other’s faces during lifts and jumps. It takes perfect precision to accomplish these difficult moves.
Vanessa James and Morgan Ciprés are a prime example of that trust. They have the perfect bond, and it shows in their performances. This French team clearly trusts each other without reservation.
At the 2017 International Skating Union’s World Team Trophy competition in Tokyo, the couple had a jaw-dropping performance that has many fans excited to see what James and Cipres do at the 2018 Winter Olympics.
They skate to Disturbed’s rendition of the Simon and Garfunkel classic “Sound Of Silence.” Their performance is so elegant and graceful that millions of people have watched it online. It’s simply stunning and flawless.
One person commented, “Some couples skate to music, this couple became the music. Outstanding!” The pair does seem to embody the music in this routine. Ciprés tosses and spins James multiple times throughout this gorgeous performance that brought the crowd to its feet.
