Princess Charlotte, the two-year-old daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, attended her first day of nursery school on Monday, and she looked adorably chic in a pair of photographs taken by her mother and released by Kensington Palace.

Two-year-old Princess Charlotte looked positively precious in a burgundy colored coat with matching Mary Jane shoes, gray tights, pink scarf and Cath Kidston backpack decorated with ponies. Duchess Kate, who has turned into a fashion icon herself, undoubtedly had a hand in picking out the princess’s coordinating outfit.

Kensington Palace said the two photos were taken by the Duchess before Princess Charlotte left for her first day of nursery school at Willcocks Nursery School, which is less than half a mile from the palace.

Unsurprisingly, Willcocks – which has an all-female staff – is an exclusive nursery school that attracts British and foreign parents alike, with some parents registering their children at birth in order to ensure them a spot. The Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) rates Willcocks “outstanding” due to the “exceptional” organization of time and the staff’s meticulous planning.

Princess Charlotte’s older brother, four-year-old Prince George, is also expected to return for his second term at the equally exclusive Thomas’ Battersea this week. Prior to Thomas’ Battersea, he attended a Montessori nursery school in Norfolk. The family moved back to London last year in order to become full-time royals following the retirement of Prince Philip.

Princess Charlotte’s first day of nursery school is the first of many landmarks for the royal family in 2018. Kate and William’s third baby is due in April, while Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will marry the following month in May.
