Blake Shelton gave a bit of a shock to many of his fans on Tuesday when he tweeted something people are interpreting as a hint that he’s retiring. The country singer, who has been a longtime coach on The Voice sent a congratulatory tweet to Arizona Cardinals coach Arians on his retirement. The singer said he will be joining Arians soon.

This tweet left a lot of his followers wondering what he meant. Is he leaving country music behind or maybe just leaving The Voice. Blake didn’t clarify, so it has left many people scratching their heads. His single “I’ll Name The Dogs” topped the country charts just last month. An impending retirement would be oddly timed following such success.

Twitter user @ElioneGalvao1 responded “No retirement talk. Way too young. Besides we r not ready to let u go. Just get days off more often nd it will do it.”

@Deannas3Babies wrote “Ummm @blakeshelton Please say it isn’t so? Retirement! The Voice would go down hill. Country Music would never be the same! No way you can retire at your age! Look at George he’s still going, but he did retire, oops, but anyway @gwenstefani don’t let him retire.”

But, plenty of fans responded that Blake needs to do what is best for his family.

Twitter user @azarraga_felina suggested, “Maybe retirement from busy country touring is the answer to a happy family life…then do so..and so must Gwen. life is too short..enjoy now, have kids and have fun as they grow up.”

@debbie_barisano tweeted “You go for it Blake! Life is so short that you should do whatever makes you the happiest especially if your in a position to do so at an earlier age then most!!!!! I’m sure Gwen and the boys would be right there with you in whatever you decide!!!!”

It is unsure what Blake actually meant with this tweet. He hasn’t tweeted again since then, leaving many to wonder what is going on. While almost everyone believed he meant his own retirement, perhaps he just meant he would be seeing Bruce Arians at a retirement party.

We do know one thing for sure; Blake will be on the 14th season of The Voice which begins airing next month.
