Famed Hairstylist Reveals How We’ve All Been Washing Our Hair Wrong

A famed hairstylist has revealed some tips that may have you questioning if you have always been washing your hair wrong.

Paul Windle, co-founder of London hair salon Windle & Moodie, shared some tips for cleaning your hair. The two most important items are using the proper amount of shampoo and rinsing well. This might seem like common sense, but according to Windle, it’s a mistake most people make.

This stylist says you don’t need to use a lot of shampoo. Most people use way too much. He said to think about using a coin-sized amount of shampoo. That’s all you need. The size of about a dime should do it, and you should shampoo your hair not once, but twice.

Rinsing is imperative. According to Windle, it’s the most important part of the process. “It’s the rinsing that takes the dirt away, not the shampoo,” Paul shared. “There is no such thing as over-rinsing.”

It’s also important to make sure you are using the right kind of shampoo for your hair type and lifestyle.

From The Daily Mail:

Ken O’Rourke, Charles Worthington brand ambassador, explained: “I’ve found when working with my clients that finer hair types often feel greasy quickly with those living in cities, or the regular gym-goers, feeling the need to wash their hair daily.

I always advise my clients with these hair types to wash their hair with a gentle yet effective cleansing shampoo that doesn’t over-deposit onto the hair which could in turn lead to build-up.

‘The results will leave hair soft, prolong the life of your hair, lightweight and with natural movement that you can achieve day after day.'”

I will probably be saving a fortune after learning this important information. I am using much more shampoo than Windle suggests! Most hair experts won’t tell you such important information because it is in their best interest to see you spend a lot of money on hair products. Windle is providing all of us with some much-needed advice that can save us some valuable time and money!
