These Dancers Have Revolutionized Irish Dancing, But That’s Not All!

Irish dancing is very lively. There is a lot of tapping and jumping. There’s such high energy that you can get a workout just by watching it! It takes years to become an accomplished Irish dancer. The training is rather extensive, but practice certainly pays off.

Fusion Fighters is a group of progressive Irish dancers. They have modernized traditional Irish dancing, and the results are superb! The group has over 30 professional dancers who are trained not only in Irish dancing but also in tap, contemporary, and body percussion. The results are unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.

Fusion Fighters brought down the house at the Irish World Championship. Their coordination is amazing. Everyone appeared to be completely in sync – and there were a lot of them on that stage. This high energy performance earned rave reviews. The choreographer used to be with Michael Flatley’s “Lord Of The Dance.” You can see themes of that in their performances.

These dancers are based in the United Kingdom and Ireland, but their viral videos have earned them a worldwide following. Fusion Fighters’ videos have racked up well over 20 million views! This is quite an accomplishment for a group that launched as recently as St. Patrick’s Day 2013.

There is quite a bit of difference between Irish step-dancing and tap dancing. Tap dancing originated in the United States in the 1880s. Its roots are in Irish dancing and also African tribal dances.
