These Are No Ordinary Lions – Watch Their Reaction To What’s Thrown Into Their Enclosure

You don’t typically think of cats as animals that enjoy playing fetch. That’s an activity you only do with dogs. Well, a lioness named Serabie is putting that stereotype to rest in a viral video that shows her fetch as good as any dog!

Serabie lives at the Emoya Big Cat Sanctuary in South Africa. The sanctuary takes in big cats needing rescue. Many come to this sanctuary after being in zoos or circuses. They enjoy living in relative freedom in gated natural reserves.

YouTuber Cole and Marmalade went to Emoya to volunteer with the big cats for a month. That’s when he discovered that Serabie likes to play fetch just like a dog! He throws her a stick and she runs off to get it every time! She even climbed a tree when one of the sticks landed up there. That is something a dog can’t do!

Almost a million people have watched the video of Serabie playing fetch because it’s not something you would expect to see! She was just having some fun! Watch the video below to see this big cat acting like a dog!

It’s funny how the other lions can’t figure out what Serabie is doing. This looks as strange to them as it does to us!

Serabie was rescued from a canned hunting operation. This beautiful lioness was the focus of a documentary exposing canned lion hunting. Canned hunting is a brutal practice where an animal is kept in a confined area, increasing the chances that it will be killed by a hunter.

Now, Serabie gets to enjoy being in a semi-wild environment with other lions. She gets to be a lion and doesn’t have to worry about being hunted.

Emoya Big Cat Sanctuary got a lot of press when it received 33 big cats that were starved, mutilated, and forced to perform in circuses in Latin America. All of the cats now reside at Emoya where they live in peace. Click here to read about that story!
