Carrie Underwood American Idol audition

By now, Americans are very familiar with Carrie Underwood. The singer is beloved by millions of fans for not only her music but for her patriotism and strong Christian faith, too.

It wasn’t too long ago that Carrie was an unknown Oklahoma singer that quickly gained our attention on American Idol in 2005. Since winning the competition, she has gone on to become one of the most popular country singers of today.

She took a chance at age 21 when she tried out for the show. When she walked into the audition room, she seemed to be a bit intimidated by Simon. Years later, her audition tape shows a side of Carrie that we may not remember. She hadn’t even been on an airplane yet!

Carrie’s mom was with her for moral support and encouragement. While her mom had confidence in her beautiful daughter, neither of them had any idea what was going to happen as a result of that audition. Little did they know, their lives were about to change dramatically after she sang “I Can’t Make You Love Me” for the judges!

In the video below, Carrie not only sings for Simon and Randy, but she answers some funny questions about herself that she must have provided on her contestant bio. As she was told, there aren’t any secrets when you are on American Idol. It is fun to watch Carrie (below) at the very beginning of her career knowing how things turned out for her in the end!

Of course, Carrie ended up winning the Fourth Season of American Idol. Today, her net worth is estimated at $85 million, so she has clearly flown on a lot of airplanes since her audition in 2005!

Carrie continues to be a grounded person. She doesn’t appear to let her celebrity status change her personality. She proudly professes her Christian faith through song and is even teaching those songs to her young son! Click here to see Isaiah sing “Jesus Loves Me.”
