All passengers on flights entering the United States will now face tougher screening procedures. This affects all 2,100 flights that arrive in the country daily, including on domestic carriers.

“The security measures affect all individuals, international passengers and U.S. citizens, traveling to the United States from a last point of departure international location,” spokeswoman for the U.S. Transportation Security Administration, Lisa Farbstein said. “These new measures will impact all flights from airports that serve as last points of departure locations to the United States.”

Five airlines said they will begin these new procedures on Thursday, a day after the Trump Administration’s announcement of the changes. The rules are going into effect as a 120-day period ends for new safety regulations to be carried out. This also comes after the lifting of a ban on laptops in airplane cabins on flights heading to the United States from some Middle Eastern countries.

In addition to “heightened screening of personal electronic devices,” airlines will give passengers a quiz or a form to fill out. It’s important that we know who is entering our country. With so many people having intentions of hurting and killing Americans, this is an important part of the President’s America First strategy.

Some are concerned these new screening procedures will negatively affect tourism, as some passengers will now have to arrive at the airport three hours prior to departure. But, an expert in the video below details that this unlikely to be the case. The new screening procedures don’t appear to be cumbersome enough to force someone without bad intentions to scrap their American holiday.

If passengers have nothing to hide, they should not be concerned with these new screening procedures. These appearĀ to be important steps that will help protect not only Americans but international passengers as well. We can’t be passive aboutĀ  Homeland Security.
