The Shining

When John Mausling took a spirit tour of the Stanley Hotel with his wife, he wasn’t expecting to discover paranormal activity on his own, but it appears that is what happened.

Mausling snapped a picture of the tour group on the staircase of the hotel where the horror movie The Shining was filmed. The moment seemed uneventful at the time. Both he and his wife Jessica Martinez-Mausling say they didn’t notice anything odd when the photo was taken. However, when they got home and looked at their pictures, the couple was shocked to see the image of a girl walking up the staircase.

His picture has gone viral. Can you explain what this image might be?

Jessica said they were unable to find an explanation for this image in the picture. Nobody noticed this girl during the tour. “I did verify with the entire group that was with us that night and nobody saw her,” she said, “One thing that keeps being left out in all the stories on the internet is that I also called the Stanley to check with tour guide as well, she also did not see her.”

The only children on the tour were their friend’s 12 and 14-year-old sons. Children under 10 aren’t even permitted on the later tours.

People have flocked to the Stanley Hotel ever since the movie The Shining aired in 1980. The film has such staying power all these years that moviegoers still want to see the hotel. You can see one of the more famous clips from the movie below.

This isn’t the only ghost caught on film recently at the Stanley Hotel. Just last year, another man spotted a woman in a picture he also took of the stairwell. Click here to see that picture.
