marine homecoming

If there is one major thing I miss from military life, it’s surprising my mother when I was on leave and this marine homecoming reminded me of that. You know it’s a great gift when she knows nothing about you coming home and everyone is keeping the secret. If this happens and the stars are aligned, you have the makings of a viral video and keepsake.

Nekel Moore has a son who is in the Marines. She was looking forward to hosting a reunion at her home in Los Angeles when her son, Naim Tauheed, showed up unexpectedly.

Oh, the joy his mom felt when she saw her son all dressed up. I know that feeling. I spent eight years in the United States Air Force and anytime I could do this, I made sure to make it happen.

Moore was so shocked to see her son for the first time in two years that she screamed with joy and actually ran away. After the initial shock wore off, they embraced for a long hug.

On “Fox & Friends,” Tauheed said that he had been deployed in the Philippines for six months, and he found out that his deployment was going to end earlier than expected.

He knew that his mom had been planning the family reunion for about a year and had a firm date set. When he realized he would be able to attend, he called his father and coordinated the surprise.

“I was just so blown away. I was almost blown off of my feet when I saw him, because I didn’t expect him to come,” Moore said. “When I saw him walk through the door, it just floored me.”

The joy his mother felt was met with the joy he had being able to show her he was safe and doing things the right way. This is what makes parents happy and proud and this video was a great reminder of what our children can do when they sign up to protect our great country.

SHARE this beautiful video on your Facebook and Twitter timeline to brighten someone’s day and honor this marine’s brave sacrifice.
