Liberal comedian George Lopez got into some hot water last week at a charity event when he decided to tell some jokes at the expense of President Donald Trump.

Lopez appeared at a benefit for the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes, where tables reportedly sold for $5,000 to $100,000 dollars. During his comedy routine, Lopez was reportedly asked “nicely to stop making Trump jokes by a man in front row [Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei] who just donated $250k” but “George doesn’t, continues. Gets booed.”

According to Page Six, Lopez responded to Maffei’s request for the comedian to stop making jokes about President Trump by obnoxiously saying “Thank you for changing my opinion on old white men, but it doesn’t change the way I feel about orange men.” According to reports, the audience began to boo the liberal comedian, forcing Lopez to try and salvage the moment.

Speaking to the audience, Lopez said “Listen, it’s about the kids… I apologize for bringing politics to an event. This is America – it still is. So I apologize to your white privilege.”

Page Six noted that Lopez reportedly told a joke about Trump’s border wall with Mexico, saying “I guess you can get some Mexicans to do it cheaper and they wouldn’t crush the tunnels underneath.” The audience reportedly did not enjoy the joke and Lopez asked if they were “El Chapo people?”

Lopez then introduced a video segment, but did not return to the stage after its conclusion, and instead was replaced by a local newscaster.

Page Six is also reporting that a source close to Lopez insists that the comedian was only supposed to appear on stage for “four minutes” and disputes the claim that he did not come back on stage following the poor reception he received.

Lopez has been an outspoken critic of President Trump, and even threatened to leave the country if he was elected. Well, in the video below, military veteran Wayne Dupree believes that maybe now is the time for Lopez to fulfill his promise.
