Fixer Upper fans will have to watch repeats of the show after this season when the series ends. Chip and Joanna Gaines made a surprise announcement last month that the wildly popular show will be concluding. They are going out on top.
The Gaineses immediately earned a place in the hearts of many HGTV fans but now their businesses have grown and need their attention. Chip Gaines’s mother recently spilled the beans on perhaps the real reason her son and daughter-in-law decided to leave their show and it’s one that many people can understand.
Gayle Gaines said Chip and Joanna’s main focus is their children. Leaving the show will give them more ability to prioritize family time. “They care very much about how their children turn out, and they are very well aware that spending time with them and investing in their lives is important,” Gayle Gaines said. Chip’s mom said the couple has earned time off after their five years on HGTV.
Former associate producer Noh on Fixer Upper Sydney said the Gaineses didn’t want their children to spend the remainder of their childhood dealing with their celebrity status. “As far as I’ve known, they’ve always planned on stepping out to make sure their kids got to enjoy part of their childhood out of the spotlight,” Noh said. “Their ability to know when it’s time to step out and move into a new part of their lives is a testament to what amazing people they are.”
