Grossinger’s resort started off in 1919 as a single house on 100 acres owned by the Grossinger family. By 1972, the resort had grown to 35 buildings on 1,200 acres. Descendants of the family sold the property to Servico in 1986, and the main hotel and resort areas closed that same year.
