President Trump Comes To The Rescue In Ways Obama Refused To!

President Trump did something today that Barack Obama refused to do when he was in office. Liberal heads are likely to explode when the difference is explained.

Trump has cut through red tape that was preventing proper aid from reaching Puerto Rico. He has waived Jones Act shipping restrictions. This waiver is effective immediately and will help combat shortages of fuel, food, and emergency supplies the US territory faces in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. The island has faced catastrophic damage after being pummeled by the category 4 hurricane.

President Trump also issued a waiver for the southeastern states in the wake of Hurricane Harvey and Irma. The Daily Signal pointed out that President Obama failed to issue a Jones Act waiver for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill cleanup in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010. The waiver is in effect for 10 days and will allow Puerto Rico to receive aid from neighboring islands. The Governor of Puerto Rico, who asked for the restriction to be lifted, immediately thanked President Trump for green-lighting this request.

Drone footage below shows some of the widespread destruction in San Juan. There is a lack of food and gas and the infrastructure of much of the US territory is shot.

Many have called for The Merchant Marine Act of 1920, which is the formal name for the Jones Act, to be repealed entirely. Labor has often stood in the way of this happening. The Jones Act requires that shipments between U.S. ports be delivered on U.S. built, owned, and manned vessels.

If liberals try to hit President Trump on not issuing the waivers as soon as Hurricane Maria crashed on San Juan, remind them that President Obama failed to issue them at all in the aftermath of an enormous cleanup.
