After weeks and weeks of torturous teasing, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose finally reunited on this week’s episode of Raw:

Following the reunion, WWE announced that Rollins and Ambrose will challenge Sheamus and Cesaro for the Raw Tag Team Championship at SummerSlam on Sunday (fun fact: if Ambrose and Rollins win, Ambrose will become a Grand Slam Champion).

But as exciting as Rollins’s and Ambrose’s reunion was, there was one Big Dog noticeably absent from the yard.

What About Roman?

Roman Reigns, of course, has been busy pursuing the WWE Universal Championship. He’s also been busy with Braun Strowman, who’s been thwarting his efforts to become champion at every turn – which is precisely why it would make perfect sense for The Shield to fully reunite at SummerSlam.

How It Could Happen

As one theory contends, Rollins and Ambrose will defeat Sheamus and Cesaro to become the new Raw Tag Team Champions. Then, later in the night, they’ll interfere in the Fatal 4-Way and aid Reigns in winning the Universal Championship.

This is definitely an intriguing scenario. In their early days, The Shield acted as reinforcement for WWE Champion CM Punk. Whenever Punk had a match, The Shield would interfere and make sure he didn’t lose. No matter how you feel about Reigns being Universal Champion, how great would it be if The Shield returned to their heel roots – and as champions? I for one desperately miss heel Rollins and would welcome with open arms a return to The Shield’s former glory.

But even if the reunion doesn’t happen this Sunday, it seems likely that it will happen in the near future. Given how the crowd exploded when Rollins and Ambrose bumped fists on Monday, Vince would be sorely mistaken not to reunite the trio.

And I can’t wait.
