Florida sinkhole

Seven Florida homeowners in Land O’Lakes are dealing with a real life horror story after losing their homes to a sinkhole. Two houses were swallowed up by the sinkhole last month and five others have been condemned.

The sinkhole opened up on July 14th, taking out two of the homes in the area. The other homes were condemned because inspectors found cracks and buckling and even the granite countertops were buckling, highlighting serious concerns.

This could be emotionally and financially crippling for these families. This is something that none of us prepare for or expect to happen. Hopefully, these homeowners have good insurance.

Research archeologist Lori Collins with the University of South Carolina is working on the sinkhole. She actually grew up in the neighborhood. She said a lake was dredged to build the development. The dredge material was used to create the land the Pasco County homes were built on, which she explains in the video below.

This is alarming. It appears the lake is looking to reclaim the homes that were built on its former footprint. These homeowners are learning that Mother Nature can reclaim whatever she wants.

In addition to the massive sinkhole in Florida, residents in California are dealing with a massive wildfire, which you can read about here!

Share this if you are praying for the families affected by this massive sinkhole!
