Waiting for the drink cart on a flight can be a rather impatient process. If you aren’t at the very front of the plane, you will be waiting for quite some time. But, there is something everyone can do to speed it up and make the flight attendants happy. Don’t order Diet Coke.

According to a flight attendant who writes for the website These Gold Wings, Diet Coke takes a long time to pour because of the fizz. It has higher levels of carbon dioxide than other soft drinks. In the time it takes them to pour a Diet Coke, they could pour three drinks.

This is a big time waster, especially when you’re not on the plane for an extended period of time. Someone might get short-changed at the back of the plane if there are a lot of Diet Coke orders. She wrote, “Pouring Diet Coke is one of the biggest slowdowns in the bar service and on the shorter flights those precious seconds count!”

There is something the flight attendant can do to speed it up. If they are able to flip the can upside down in the cup, it will make it go a bit faster. You can see a video of that below.

Next time you are flying and want a Diet Coke, you can ask your flight attendant to do this! At the very least, everyone needs to be patient. There is no reason to get in a fight with a flight attendant over a Diet Coke!
