Ohio State Fair accident

A state fair is supposed to be a place of fun and community. But, the opening day of the Ohio State Fair turned into a massive tragedy that left one man dead and seven others injured.

The Fire Ball ride had been cleared by inspectors several times. But, something very wrong got past those inspectors and now one man is dead because of it. The ride swings like a pendulum while rotating the riders 13 revolutions per minute.

The ride broke apart midair and an 18-year-old man who died was found 50 feet from the ride. Those who were injured were tossed 20 to 30 feet in the air. Their injuries are much like that of someone involved in a severe car accident.

A teenage bystander caught video of the accident on his cell phone. In it, it sounds like the ride hit something as it breaks apart. You can see the video below, but be aware that it is graphic.

This is a state fair, so there is a reasonable expectation for safety. Inspectors are required to go through the rides with a fine-toothed comb. However, there was a massive failure yesterday. All the rides have been shut down until further notice.

In the video below, two eyewitnesses who were next in line for the ride are interviewed by a reporter and describe the horrific event first hand. Imagine realizing that your life may have been saved simply because you didn’t get in line for the ride a minute earlier.

This is an horrific event that has rocked one of the biggest state fairs in the country. The friends and family members of all those affected could use our prayers.

Share this if you are praying for them!
