There’s so much more to Braun Strowman (real name Adam Scherr) than that distinct war cry. Read on to learn five fast facts about Raw’s newest monster.

1. He’s A Former Strongman Competitor

Like several other pro wrestlers before him, Braun Strowman competed on the strongman circuit before entering the squared circle.

Strowman entered his first strongman competition in Sept. 2009. In 2012 he won the Arnold Amateur Strongman Championships, which earned him an invite to the 2013 Arnold Strongman Classic. There he came in 10th place and won $1,000.

2. He Eats 12,000 Calories A Day

During his time on the strongman circuit, Strowman told a local newspaper that he ate 12,000 calories a day, which included a daily trip to Burger King to eat a Triple Whopper Combo with cheese. And judging by his Instagram account, it’s safe to say that he still consumes three times that of the average person.

3. Mark Henry Got Him Involved With WWE

Continuing with the strongman theme, Strowman has The World’s Strongest Man Mark Henry to thank for his WWE career.

Despite leaving the strongman world for pro wrestling years ago, Henry has remained in contact with many on the strongman circuit. He caught wind of Strowman and notified WWE that they should check him out, and the rest is history.

4. He’s An Avid Outdoorsman

Strowman is a good ol’ country boy from North Carolina, so it’s no surprise that he likes to spend his spare time in the great outdoors. Hey, maybe he’ll link up with Brock Lesnar to go whitetail hunting one day. Now that’d be terrifying.

5. He Appeared In An Independent Film About Pro Wrestling

Just before signing with WWE, Strowman appeared in an independent film, titled “Three Count.” According to the synopsis, “Two brothers come to grips with the death of their father while moonlighting as a luchador tag team in the independent professional wrestling circuit.” Strowman appropriately portrays a strongman. Personally, I think he’d make a great addition to the next season of Southpaw Regional Wrestling.

Like I said – Strowman is way more than just your typical big man. But he sure does play it well.
