Adam Driver

Americans became familiar with Adam Driver when he portrayed Kylo Ren, the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. But, what many people don’t know about this actor is that he is also a Marine veteran.

His time as a Marine inspired him to want to give back to his fellow veterans and he did so for one veteran‘s family in an amazing way. Driver made Pennsylvania native Hayley Williams and her family’s day when he showed up.  He hand delivered a scholarship letter to Hayley Williams.

Hayley is a nursing student who can’t afford her final year of school. Her father John is an Army veteran who was seriously injured prior to deploying for Desert Storm. His injuries prevent him from working full time, forcing Hayley to cover her own tuition and living expenses. At the rate of today’s college tuition, this burden had become too much for Hayley.

Adam surprised the Williams family. They didn’t know that he would be coming to their home. He shared a story that really touched John. Like John, Driver was injured before deploying to Iraq. He faces the same guilt that he let his fellow soldiers down because he wasn’t able to deploy with them.

Watch the video below for more on this heartwarming story.

That just hits you in the feelings. Adam Driver clearly cares about his fellow veterans. It’s wonderful that Hayley will be able to finish school.

Share this if you are thankful for our veterans!
